Myofascial Release

This is actually just a generic term used for manual soft tissue manipulation.   Basically, the practitioner is able to use information gathered from the history and exam in order to identify specific muscle(s) that are responsible for causing pain and/or postural distortions.  The practitioner uses various soft tissue manipulation techniques to get the muscle to relax and return to its normal resting length.  After several bouts of these treatments, the patient will usually see relief from many types of pain associated with chronic muscle strains due to repetitive stresses at work.

What to expect:

  • Depending on the muscles being work on depicts how you will be positioned
  • The doctor will apply a frictionless gel to allow for the hands to glide smoothly across your skin
  • The doctor will apply deep strokes to the affected muscles allowing them to relax
  • The typical treatment time for this is 5 minutes
